Production unit
Students are preparing for the December concert. We are working on clarity of movement and being creative with our bodies and voices. It is important to stay committed and focused when preparing for a performance, because a lot of people are depending on each other in order to create something great together.

Students are preparing for the December concert. We are working on creativity and qualities of movement. Rhythm is also an element. We have also looked at The film "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" by Tim Burton for inspiration.

All students will need plain clothes for the show, I hope that you can help your child to locate a longsleeve and tights/leggings/sweatpants in the same colour. 
It can be :
red, yellow, black, white, blue, green, brown, grey.

Students will work on their movement skills in groups,
 telling a story of an explorer through qualities of movement, tempo, rhythm and sound.

Friday 30th of October 2015

Students have started playing with ideas for our next unit, based on movement, rhythm, sound and cooperation. We also work on creating a movement routine, telling the story of Nansen. Students will implement qualities of movement, levels, voice and tempo.

Wednesday 14th of October 2015
Students have been creating music, using rhythm and sound. We have improvised a song together with all our instruments. We are still working with movement through diamonds. Fast, slow and levels have been incorporated.

Communication and collaboration are important Learner Attitudes and Reflection a Key concept

We will be working creatively in groups, exercising our clearity of communication through movement and expression. We will connect our products and presentations up to the students`unit work on Healthy lifestyles.

Students are working together to create a machine with sound and movement. 
We are also working on movement through our diamonds, and this week we will start to create a piece based on an explorer by the name of Nansen.




Thursday 17th of September 2015

Students have worked on statues and diamonds in relation to their unit work on healthy living. We are training focus and concentration and skills such as movement, tempo, levels and cooperation. Next week they will present their groups "Health Diamonds".


Friday 5th of June 2015
We are heaving rehersals with focus on clarity, placement and truth. Students are really good at supporting each other when observing.
HOMEWORK: Write a biography(auto) on your character-include your personal history, a secret and a memory.

We have finished our script and students are to prepare a mini "audition" based on character of their choice and chosen situation. Here is the script :-)



THREE DIMESIONS
Sebastian and Katie are brother and sister. They are classmates from 6th grade and they are on a field trip to the Munch museum.

Miss Jane: Boys and girls, you now have an hour to explore the museum in your pairs. We meet back here by the fountain at 2 PM

Nina: Are we allowed to go in the gift shop and buy candy?

Eric:Yeah, my mom gave me lots of money to buy goodies with

Miss Jane: No gift shop. We just ate lunch and spend the time looking at art, please

Lilly: We never get to go in the gift shop. It is so boring here, only old boring paintings

Chris: Yeah, of old boring artists

Miss Jane: Your job kids will be to make an exciting story about a painting

Robert: ooooh, yippiiii

Tina: I love paintings-they make me dream

Sean: Tina, you are such a dreamer. How can some dried up paint make you dream?

Emilia: Because it shows someone elses thoughts, ideas or dreams maybe, Silly. Right Tina?

Tina: Yeah, exactly
Chris: Ok, show me the magic! I am ready for some serious art


Mr Voss: Ok, ok, that is enough kids. Ok, Tina, Lori, Sean and Emilia come with me. We are going to the modern art bit first

Sebastian: Come on Katie. let`s find “Scream” I love how scary that painting is

Katie: I think it is this way, come on

Katie and Sebastian stop in front of the “scream” and just look at it for a while. Sebastian reaches out to touch the painting

Katie: No, don`t do that. We will get into trouble. Maybe the alarm goes off

Sebastian: Relax, I`ll be very careful

Sebastian reaches in exactly where the mouth is and his hand disappears

Katie: Ahh, did you see that? Your hand disappeared, what was that?
Sebastian: I have no idea

Sebastian puts a bigger part of his arm through the picture. Katie and Sebastian look at each other

Sebastian and Katie: Wooooooow, this is weird

Sebastian: Hold on to my hand

And he drags them both through the painting

Katie: Where is this place? It is so familiar

Sebastian: I know, it is creepy

Mr Ole: Excuse me, what are you kids doing out here by yourselves? It is church time, you`re supposed to be at church

Sebastian: Excuse me Sir, but where are we?

Mr Ole: I have no time for nonsense

Mr Ole walks over to a man on the bridge who is crying

Mr Ole: Edvard, quit being silly, everyone is waiting for you in the church. Lisa is marrying your brother and that is the end of it

Edvard: AAAAAAAARGHHHHHHIUUUUUÆÆÆÆHHHHHH

Katie and Sebastian look at each other

Katie: I think I know where we are

Sebastian and Katie: We are in the “Scream”

Sebastian:This is crazy

They follow the two men. Edvard is being dragged by Mr Ole to the church. They follow them into the church.
The Priest: Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to join in holy matrimony, Lisa and Marius Grieg.
Edvard: Uhuuuu
Lisa: Can someone please get the guests to be quiet during the ceremony?
Marius: Lisa, calm down. This is our special day. Don`t let Edvard ruin it

Mr Robertson is handing out the hymn books

Mr Robertson: Sshhhhh, sit down you two, you are interrupting the ceremony

Sebastian and Katie take the hymn book and try to blend in.
They open the book and start singing a hymn. Katie points to a sentence and her finger disappears into the page

Sebastian: Did you see that? Are you thinking what I am thinking?
Sebastian and Katie: Let`s go

Katie: This church business is boring

They both jump into the hymn book and disappears

They look around and they see the most beautiful garden they have ever seen

Sebastian: What is this place? Have you ever seen anywhere so beautiful?
Katie: Wooow, look at those apples
Sebastian: Look out for the snake
Katie: AAAIIIIIOHHSKHKS Where?!?! Help, UUUU

Snake: Hellloooo ssssssstrangers, Welcome to Paradissssse

Sebastian: Great, a talking snake!

Katie: Shhh, where are we Mr snake?

Snake: Ssssssssilly people....tssss....tssssss.....tsssssss

The snake slithers on

Sebastian: Do you think that we are...
Katie and Sebastian: The Garden of Eden!

Katie: I`ve always wanted to taste that apple-lift me up

Eric: Katie, Sebastian-oh I`m so happy to see you. I tripped on Lisa`s notebook and somehow I fell into a painting and then I was in the middle of a wedding with some crazy people who forced me to sing hymns and all of a sudden I had a horrible snake hugging me in this weird place

Sebastian: Well, I wouldn`t like to live here for the rest of my life

Katie: What are we going to do?

Sebastian: I have an idea! Let`s try to jump through the waterfall-the museum is bound to have many paintings with waterfalls

Katie: Any idea is better than none. I`m ready

They go over to the beautiful waterfall and

K+S+E:1,2,3

They jump in and get wet

Katie: Great idea smarty-now we are all wet

Eric: Don`t talk to him like that, what is your brilliant idea Katie?

Katie: Where is yours Sebastian. This is all your fault!

While they are arguing Eric sees a reflection in the waterfall

Eric: Hey guys, take a look here. I can see the class in the museum. It is like a two-way mirror through the fountain in the museum

Katie: Look at that painting with that tree

Everybody looks at each other and get`s the same idea

Sebastian: Everybody search for the tree in the painting!!!!

They run of and touch different trees and when Katie touches the third one her hand disappears

Katie: Guys-this one! This one! Let`s go!!!!

All three of them are by the fountain with their classmates

Miss Jane: Time to go home students. I hope that you have spent your time well. Why are you all wet?

They walk out of the museum

We have now finished the script "Three Dimensions" ,but we will work in a few more characters. 
We will start by improvising all characters and situations by using the "Woosh". 
Students will then receive their character to develop when working with the script.

Tuesday 23rd of March 2015

We are excited to see our script take form. We have improvised and collaborated on brainstorming, and we are now in the process of writing a script. Our play is called "The Three Dimensions" and hopefully we will finish it this week, so that we can start working on characters and situations after Easter.


Monday 2nd of March 2015

We will work on our stage communication this unit. We will work on our voices and reactional skills in performing our self written play, which is going to be linked up to the topic of "Air". Students are working on making physical sketches, as we brain storm for ideas.


Wednesday 28th of January 2015

We will keep working on improvisation. Using situations and characters to guide us. We will bring our learning of expression, movement and voice into the exercises. We are looking for listening and reaction-practising our communication skills and our ability to be present in the moment.
 We are working on creating a rhythm and making a piece in Groups, linked up to a vehicle of transportation.

Our new unit will focus on IMPROVISATION and IMAGINATION. 
We will use our creativity to create characters and situations, with the skills that we are acquiring in PA, such as movement, expressions and voice. As well as imagination.

We are working hard on our choreographies and putting it all together. We have also started talking about costumes for our performance and here is what we are looking for:

DESERT: A scarf for a turban and a long Kamiz (shirt-dress)
WATER: All blue or/ and silver, blue swimming goggles
SPACE: All black
JUNGLE: All read or All green + hat/head band
ARCTIC: All white

We carried on working on our diamond choreographies, and we tried to put it all together. We need to keep adjusting and tune our qualities of movement, and our cooperation. At the end of our lesson we got to try out the new stage lights, thanks to 
Mr. Robert. 
Can`t wait to show you our work when we are finished :-) 


Friday 7th of November 2014
Students continue to work on their movement improvisations. Working on quality of movement, tempo, rhythm and sound. It is great to see stories beginning to come alive through their pieces, built on explorers. Today, most groups received direction and help to work from. We will continue this next week.

Students continue to work on their movement improvisations. 
They are using the diamond exercise to practise tempo, rhythm, movement, expression and eventually voice. Working in teams is important training and can sometimes be very challenging. 
We will keep training this important skill throughout our lessons.

Practising diamonds

Last week we got to work on our diamonds again and the students trained movement improvisation, listening and reacting with bodies in cooperation. 
We will work on our end piece through this type of movement improvisation. We also did some work on voice and support. 
This week, we will keep working on our diamonds and see if we can link them up to situations and their unit.

Movement impro based on dream journey
We started the new unit talking about what we learned and focused on last term. Movement with all the elements, such as tempo, rythm, levels, qualities. This term we will in addition to keep building our movement skills, focus strongly on imagination. We started with a dream journey, which took the students through extreme weather conditions (imaginary circumstances). Based on what they "experienced" in the dream, they made a movement piece, implementing tempo and qualities.

Mirroring-concentration-team work

Students finished their week with a lovely PA lesson. Concentration, team work and creative independence is starting to show. We are preparing for an exercise called Diamonds and the students were focused and commited when mirroring each other. They managed to demonstrate use of tempo, levels and actions through a movement exercise.

The students are showing improvement in their quality of movement and their process when working, thinking about the skills that we are developing. Using the factors that we have been working on. Some really interesting work is coming alive in our PA room:-)
 Some students still need help to work on the focus and commitment that our work requires.

Group-Responsibility-Team work-Concentration

We still need to keep working on focus, concentration and collaboration. This is important for us to develop and progress in our physical knowledge. I have asked the students as a group to make sure that they take ownership of their PA lessons.
 The PA lessons depend on group dynamics as much as that of the individuals, so we will keep working on getting into that frame of mind.

Levels in the room

We keep working on focus and clarity and we have introduced levels and we are implementing levels, tempo and qualities (how we do something) in our exercises. They are preparing for a movement improvisation, where they actually choreographer their own performance....

We will focus hard on concentration and keeping focused in the next PA lessons. 
We are working on getting used to the focus that we need in a learning environment that may have different frames to the normal classroom. Finding the balance between playful exploration and disiplin. We are working on movement and awareness in the body and in the room.

Students have worked on being focused and concentrated. We have talked about standing in neutral and the skills that we are going to be developing. We played games and did exercises that strengthen their imagination, concentration and cooperation, amongst other skills. Looking forward to see their development :-)
