Production unit

It is showtime!! :-)
Students are preparing for the December concert.
We are working hard on characters, voice and qualities of movement to be able to invite you to our Circus Fantastico on December 17th.
It is important to stay focused when creating and rehearsing and we must all try to be enthusiastic risk takers.

Tuesday 1st of December
Today we start rehearsing together-the whole circus and we will be focusing on concentration, respect and confidence in addition to characters and plot.
NEW INFORMATION REGARDING COSTUMES!
I would like all Circus directors and Liontamers in all black. Lions in brown, orange or black. Everyone else in white.
The most important is for students to be dressed in one colour, the same coloured and longsleeved bottom and top.

Thank you for your cooperation.
Wednesday 18th of November 2015
The students have been given their part in the Cirkus.
We are training qualities of movement, expression, voice and character. We are also focusing on independent commitment and focus.

We are so lucky that some parents are helping to create some costumes but I will ask that all students have :

plain clothes in all white (longsleeve and tights/leggings) underneath on the 15th and 17th of December.

These students should be all black:
Lara, Durga, Lavya, Mehak and Shubhi.

If your child has a tutu (white or pink ballerina skirt-
it would be great if they could lend it to one of our linedancers
-we need 6)

We are getting close to finishing our script "The Exciting Adventure". Our challenge is that we keep coming up with new exciting turns and we need to focus on bringing it all to an end. Hopefully we will do so in tomorrow`s lesson. Once we are finished, we will start working on characters and situations.

Tuesday 23rd of March 2015

Since we had the challenge of writing our own script anyway, and the children were working with Miss Ida on "Hakkebakkeskogen", we have improvised to brainstorm for a play, and we are now in the process of writing a script. The play is called "The exciting Adventure" and we are very excited to finish the script and to start working on characters and situations, after Easter.

Monday 2nd of March 2015
"Hakkebakkeskogen"
This unit we will work on our PA skills from a different point of view. We will read scenes from "Hakkebakkeskogen" and write a script based on characters and situations from this well known Norwegian book. We will work on voice and character, as well as our reaction skills.

Wednesday 28th of January 2015

Students have been presented with an image and where asked to say words that they could see or thought of, relating to the image.
They have been placed in Groups and were very enthusiastic when they started planning for a mini play/piece. They can present it in a movement piece, statues or a play.
Clearity is a criteria.
Looking forward to seeing the result :-)

Quality Cross-over
Today students chose an exercise that they would like to put in their portfolio. They had to perform them and reflect on what they learn from this particular exercise. I love their enthusiasm :-)

Quality of movement-improvisation

Students are improving their skills of quality of movement and working in a space. They are also becoming more confident when showing their work to each other. This is great to see, as showing our work to other people is a big part of PA :-)

Students are working in groups on creating a movement piece, a choreography. The choreographies are being built on set actions and students are going to be playing with levels, qualities and tempo. We will show our performace to the others in our group next week :-)

Movement improvisation

This week, we are focusing on the terms:
qualities, levels and tempo, and we are using it to make  movement improvisations.
I also introduced the action board in our PA class room, which is a student lead board for implementing the IB attitudes in our lessons. Words such as: Respect, Tolerance, Creativity, Confidence, Enthusiasm and Empathy are part of these attitudes.

Tuesday 26th of August 2014

This week we keep focusing on clarity, concentration and imagination. We are doing exercises to train rythm, spacial awareness as well as body awareness and movement.
We finished our lesson with a "Dream" where the students take a non physical journey in their imagination. We had a lovely reflection at the end regarding imagination.

You can ask the students to tell you, or show you, what these terms mean in the PA room:

Thursday 21st of August 2014

Welcome back! It was lovely to see my bunch and the new additions to the class. It came as no surprise to me that these guys would flourish in the PA room:-)

We talked about and defined the skills that we will focus on in our lessons and we agreed on our set of rules and expectations. (See the homepage of the blog)

Students proved to be caring risk takers when doing exersises on imagination, characters, voice and movement.
